
Let me share with you the story of ‘Jim’, not his real name, but a true-life hero who embarked on a life-changing journey with me. Jim is a teacher, who nurtures minds and hearts every day in Singapore, but found his own health neglected amidst his dedication to his profession.
This journey of transformation has not only inspired me, but I feel honoured to have been chosen as Jim’s coach, playing a part in this meaningful voyage.
Like many teachers, Jim was fighting a battle with long hours of work, endless paperwork and the constant stress of managing classrooms full of energetic students. His nutrition was off balance, exercise was a rarity, and adequate sleep a distant memory. However, within Jim was a strong desire for a healthier life, a dream he held close to his heart.
We began his journey through the Body Thrive Academy programme, starting with the Foundation Stage. Here, Jim soaked up all the health-related knowledge he could get his hands on. Together, we built a strong support system around him, and he worked on cultivating a disciplined mindset.
As we moved into the Transformation Stage, Jim began understanding the importance of metabolism and hormones on our bodies. He learned ways to control overeating and manage his cravings, focusing on good nutrition as the main fuel for his body.
The final part of his journey was the Consistency Stage. Jim embraced daily fitness routines that could fit into his busy schedule, developed mindset strategies, and continually experimented to optimise his performance.

Throughout Jim’s journey with the Body Thrive Academy, I aimed not to hand-hold him, but rather equip him with the skills he needed to empower himself. Jim learned to take the driver’s seat, control his health, and ensure his wellbeing became a priority.
