
Ahmad sent me a text a few years ago. He was a busy dad, always on the move with erratic shift hours that messed up his routine and left him chronically tired. Coupled with the responsibility of raising his kids, his health was always on the back burner.
The struggle of constantly feeling drained and dealing with recurring health issues was taking a toll on him. His dream was simple yet daunting; he yearned to regain control of his health, energy, and life.
Amidst the chaos, Ahmad dreamt of being able to run around the park with his children without getting winded or having to sit down after a few minutes. He yearned for a day when he wouldn’t have to rely on caffeine to keep his eyes open during his shift.
More than that, he dreamt of becoming a role model for his children, teaching them about the importance of taking care of their health.
The opportunity to coach Ahmad filled me with inspiration and gratitude. His will to overcome his struggles was infectious, and as his coach, it was an honour to be part of his journey.
We embarked on a journey with the Body Thrive Academy programme, which is divided into three stages and nine steps. The first phase was all about laying a strong foundation. Ahmad absorbed the basics of healthy living like a sponge (knowledge and guidance).
He willingly held himself accountable and embraced the support provided to him (accountability and support). In time, he started to discipline himself, seeing the value in maintaining his health (motivation and discipline).
As we moved into the transformation stage, Ahmad’s understanding of his body evolved. He started making connections between his metabolism and hormones and his general wellbeing (metabolism & hormones).
He learned to distinguish between hunger and cravings, and managed to control them (stop overeating & control cravings). Ahmad also began to make healthier choices with food (eating right & nutrition).
Our final destination was the consistency stage. Even with his busy schedule, Ahmad carved out at least 10 minutes a day for fitness.
He started making small changes to his daily routine (mindset strategies & habits), continuously experimenting with ways to improve (performance & experimentation).

As we journeyed through the Body Thrive Academy programme, Ahmad learned to be his own health champion. I was there to provide guidance, but Ahmad took charge of his health, learning the skills he needed to maintain his wellbeing.
Ahmad’s transformation has left an indelible impression on me.
Watching him transform his struggles into success and make his dreams come true has been an inspiring experience.
